Sitka is excited to announce they will be opening a flagship store in New Zealand on January 15 of 2011. The 1,500 square foot store will be located at 6 Osborne St. in Newmarket in Auckland.
The store will be the third flagship opened by Sitka and will be managed by New Zealand local, Andrew Howson. Sitka has already attracted people from the area to join the Sitka family and have worked out sponsorship agreements with the band Tahuna Breaks and surfers, Blake Meyers and Nicola Colson-Kolster.
The interior of the new retail location will be furnished with vintage furniture, don a living green wall and host a coffee bar. In traditional Sitka-style, the store fixtures will primarily be made of refurbished wood and will display the full Sitka clothing, surfboard and skateboard collection. The store concept was designed by owners, Rene Gauthier and Andrew Paine, and manager, Howson.
Sitka will host a soft opening party this Saturday after their first day open for business. They invite everyone down to check out the shop and enjoy some refreshments from 5 pm on.
More information on the grand opening will be made available closer to the opening.
We’re pretty stoked on it and hope you are too! We tried not to make any drastic changes (yet!) as we know most of us are creatures of habit. There is more to come but your going to have to wait it out and see (similar to our summer surf!).

We realize that it may not make some of you so happy to find out that your forum account has now be terminated. It would be great to have you register using the same user name under our new system. We tried to integrate your former forum username’s so you wouldn’t have to re-register but it’s nearly impossible from a programming perspective. However, we will be archiving all of the old relevant forum posts in the new system so you will still be able to read and reference them.
For the most part everything else has just been re-arranged to make ScoitaSurfer.com easier and more user friendly.
If there’s something we missed or something you’d like to see post a comment below!
